Slough

Slough, Berkshire, lies 29 miles west of London on the A4. With a population in excess of 100,000, Slough was once set in a rural area which inspired Sir Thomas Gray's Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard. It grew from the mid twentieth century as a modern industrial New Town.  The map below shows the features of the town of Slough as it was in the mid twentieth century.
