Gravesend

Gravesend, Kent, lies to the east of London on the south side of the Thames estuary. With a population of more than 50,000, Gravesend is now a busy commercial and industrial centre. The narrow Thames estuary here is one of the busiest shipping channels in the world. Gravesend is also the final resting place of the Red Indian princess Pocahontas, who came to England after marrying one of the early Virginian settlers.
