The Somerset town of Frome lies on the river of the same name. This busy market town, at its busiest during the holiday season, has a population of around 14,000. Its quaint steep and narrow streets are very attractive, the most famous being the cobbled Cheap Street with its central water course. Frome’s early prosperity was based on cloth making but today relies on industries like carpet making, light engineering and printing.
